Hi, I'd like to submit a feature request to enable defining the new database settings available in the Packager Plus installer GUI when running from the command prompt, i.e. collation, file paths, database size, etc.
We're attempting to integrate Packager Plus in a new automated deployment process; we can't use the silent mode as we build a package that may get released into any number of environments and the target database details aren't known/available until the the deployment itself kicks off. The incomplete command-line settings are blocking certain scenarios that we'd really like to implement.
have you seen the recent /vesseldatabase switch that allows you so spcify an existing database on the target to populate instead of creating a new one. You installation process can create the database with the desires settings.
I haven't seen this switch previously. Which version is it available from? I don't see any new releases available in the downloads area, nor do I see this switch documented anywhere.
I'd like to have some more understanding of how that works, exactly. Should it be used in conjunction with the createnew install mode? Does it enable static data to be imported into the target database?
This was answered at the time by email. For completeness: the help file's command-line topic includes this:
/vesseldatabase: (Advanced option) The name of an existing "empty" database. In CreateNew mode the vessel database will be populated instead of creating a new database. In Upgrade mode this vessel database will be populated as the temporary source database for the compare and upgrade. NB. This option is only for packages built by Packager Plus.
